Airkix offers lift to good cause

With support from the indoor skydiving company, Two Fat Submariner’s Charity Quest gets off to a flying start

Airkix Indoor Skydiving, the ever-popular adrenalin-rush activity, with locations in Milton Keynes and Manchester is to support the ‘Two Fat Submariners’ as their fundraisers of the year. Playing a key part in kick-starting a number of fund raising enterprises, Airkix is proud to be partnering with the worthy pair.

The Two Fat Submariners, Barry Bishop and Steve Mills are ex military men who, ten years on from their departure, have been fundraising with a nautical and charitable theme in their spare time, as well as being in full time employment. Barry is the Chairman of the Oxford Sea Cadets for children aged 10-18 and Steve is the Secretary of area five of the Royal Naval Association.

Airkix is adopting the pair for a year in their charitable quest to raise substantial funds for three worthy causes, enabling air tunnel time to be sold at auction as well as used for rewards and prizes, all in aid of raising as much for charity as possible. Undertaking the huge challenges, Steve and Barry will be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats for Help for Heroes, running the Wroclaw Marathon in Poland for NSPCC and swimming the channel for Make a Wish Foundation.

While the Submariners will be raising funds, customers and prize-winners will be raising heights and adrenalin, as they enjoy the unforgettable experience of real skydiving freefall but without throwing themselves from a plane. Leaning into the wind tunnel, a fully qualified Airkix instructor will be on hand to help every step of the way as flight is experienced in up to 130mph wind speeds.

Barry said “It is a real honour to have been chosen by the Aircrew to partner with Airkix. Steve and myself had never done skydiving before and decided this was a great way to begin our fundraising year. Airkix CEO, Simon Ward has been able to offer us great advice and support already and we are so looking forward to the year working together.  We plan to make the best use of our airtime and would like to thank everyone at Airkix for their support, I am very sure that this will make a significant contribution to our grand total.”

Simon Ward, CEO of Airkix said: “It was a no-brainer for Airkix to be working with The Two Fat Submariners. We like their style of fundraising and are pleased to be supporting them through-out their charitable quest for the year ahead.”
