- Hawker Sea Fury T-20 "WG655" -
Artist Neil Higgs has kindly donated one of his favourite painting for auciton in support of the two fat submariners. The painting is of a Hawker Sea Fury entitled "Whiskey Golf"
History: She was the 59th Sea Fury T-20 built out of a batch of 60 for the Royal Navy. Delivered to RNAS Anthorn in October 1951. She was issued to RNAS Eglinton in March 1954 and coded 910/GN with the Eglinton Station Flight, her service life was only around 18 months, being retired in December 1956. She was converted to target tug and sold to the Federal West German Government, arriving at Bonn in August 1963. She was retired from this role in 1975. The West German government presented her to the Royal Navy in 1976 and she joined the Royal Navy Historic Flight in June 1976. She was a regular airshow participant until an accident in 1990 when the engine failed and she crashed in a field (thankfully without loss of life). She was then bought by a US collector who started the task of rebuilding her in 1993, she then passed hands again and is currently with The Fighter Collection at Duxford and seen regularly at airshows across the UK.
